WHO WAS THE KILLER? Police have called the deaths a murder-suicide, but have not said which family member killed the others. They said the safety lock was engaged from the inside of the hotel room.

WHEN DID THEY DIE? The roommates of Stephanie Parente, a sophomore at Loyola College, became concerned when she didn't return to her room Sunday night to study for a chemistry exam the next morning. The bodies were discovered Monday afternoon.

HOW DID THEY DIE?Police will not comment on how the four family members were killed, saying only that they were neither shot nor stabbed.

WAS THERE A NOTE? Police said they found evidence overnight that the deaths were murders and a suicide, but would not say whether a note was left.

WHAT WAS THE MOTIVE? Police in Baltimore would not discuss motive. Neighbors said William Parente was depressed over the death of his mother a year ago last week. The state attorney general's office confirmed that it had received a complaint Tuesday about a financial matter involving Parente.
