Robert Burks fatally shot in North Bellport, police say
Suffolk County police homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in North Bellport early Thursday.
Police said Robert Burks, 52, of North Bellport, was shot in front of a home in the 500 block of Bellport Avenue, north of Montauk Highway.
Fifth Precinct officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification at 12:54 a.m. and found Burks in front of the house. A police spokeswoman said the house was not Burks’ residence.
