Ronkonkoma sex offender faces charge over Internet use

A retired child psychologist and Level 3 sex offender from Ronkonkoma was arrested Thursday morning after he failed to register his Internet service providers and e-mail addresses as required by law, police said.
Vincent Festa, 80, of 170 Foster Rd., surrendered to Suffolk County police at the Fourth Precinct in Smithtown at 7:11 a.m.
He was charged with one count of sex offender registration violation. Police said Festa was convicted of sexual crimes against young boys in the early 1990s.
Detectives from the Computer Crimes Unit and Special Victims Section investigated Festa and a search warrant was executed at Festa's home on April 13. Police said they seized computers, hard drives and storage media.
He was processed at the Fourth Precinct and released on bail, police said.
