The man found dead Monday on the shoreline of Sag Harbor Cove has been identified as Keith Viagas, 63, of Noyack, Southampton Town police said Tuesday.

Police said his death appears to be "non-criminal," though autopsy results remain pending.

Police and bay constables found Viagas after responding to a 11:43 a.m. call for "a male deceased" on the shoreline, authorities said.

Police initially described Viagas as "40-50 years of age" with a long beard, wearing a black shirt and black swim shoes, and had requested help from the public in an effort to identify him.

Additional details were not immediately available. Police said the investigation is ongoing and that anyone with information is asked to contact the Southampton Town Detective Division at 631-702-2230.
