SAT testing postponed at many LI schools
SAT testing originally scheduled for Saturday at 34 schools across Long Island has been postponed in the wake of superstorm Sandy, test sponsors announced Thursday.
Makeup tests will be offered either the weekend of Nov. 17 or Dec. 15, depending on availability of facilities and staff, according to the Manhattan-based College Board that sponsors the college entrance exam.
Basically, any school that was scheduled to be a test site but that is closed Friday due to effects of the storm will not administer the SAT this weekend, College Board spokeswoman Kathleen Steinberg said.
Students may check a website, collegeboard.org, for the status of test administration at specific sites. They also may call SAT customer service at 866-756-7346.
Many colleges and universities across the country are extending deadlines for students' applications because of the storm, Steinberg added.
