NASA has postponed the New York City arrival of the space shuttle Enterprise to Friday.

The space agency said Tuesday it was moving the arrival back from Wednesday because of weather. The switch was announced on NASA's website.

On Monday, NASA officials tentatively scheduled Enterprise's arrival in New York on a piggyback flight atop its modified Boeing 747 for Wednesday.

But a low-pressure system that continues to dominate East Coast weather after a large storm that brought winds and rain to New York over the weekend forced the change, NASA said.

The forecast for New York on Friday calls for a high temperature of 63 degrees and partly cloudy skies. If NASA gives the planned trip a green light, the flight from Dulles International Airport near Washington will happen between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.

Enterprise's new home will be the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in Manhattan. NASA is flying the shuttle to Kennedy Airport in Queens, where it will be housed until June. Then, the shuttle will be placed on a barge and taken down the Hudson River to the Intrepid, at Pier 86, 46th Street and 12th Avenue.
