With waves close to 5 feet, a small craft advisory has been extended for ocean waters west of Moriches Inlet, the National Weather Service said Friday in its marine forecast.

The advisory runs to 6 p.m. Friday and covers Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet and Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to Fire Island Inlet.

"Ocean seas east of Moriches Inlet could also surpass 5 feet late Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening," the service said.

Wave heights for most other waters, including Long Island Sound, are expected to be 1 foot or less through Saturday.

Inland temperatures for Long Island on Friday call for cool daily highs in the mid 60s with light east winds.
