A small craft advisory is in effect for most Long Island waters until Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

The advisory covers Moriches Inlet to Montauk Point; Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet; Sandy Hook to Fire Island Inlet; and New York Harbor.

For Long Island Sound, Peconic and Gardiners bays and South Shore bays from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay, the advisory expires Wednesday evening.
