A small craft advisory is in effect through Friday afternoon for ocean waters west of Moriches Inlet, the National Weather Service said.

East winds up to 15 knots with gusts of up to 25 knots are expected from Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet and 20 miles out and a stretch from Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to Fire Island Inlet and 20 miles out, the service's Upton office said.

The service said starting Friday night and running through Sunday winds on all Long Island waters are likely to subside and "be below small-craft advisory thresholds."
