With ocean waters expected to produce waves of 5 feet or more through Wednesday, a small craft advisory is in effect for Long Island's South Shore, the National Weather Service said in its marine forecast.

The advisory runs from noon to midnight and includes New York Harbor, the service's Upton office said.

Winds over Long Island Sound and Peconic and Gardiners Bays should be slightly weaker, the service said, with those zones rating sub small craft advisory conditions.

For Thursday and into most of the weekend, sea breezes on all waters should weaken slightly, the service said.

Inland temperatures Wednesday across Nassau and Suffolk counties should reach near 80 degrees, with partly sunny skies, the service said.
