Small craft advisory in effect Tuesday for Long Island's South Shore
There is a small craft advisory for the South Shore of Long Island from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
Winds are expected to be 10 to 15 knots, with gusts up to 25 knots, the weather service said.
A small craft advisory means that sustained winds of 10 to 15 knots with gusts of 25 to 33 knots are expected, and seas of 5 feet or higher are expected or occurring.
Inexperienced mariners, especially those with smaller boats, should stay off the water.
