Small craft advisory on LI ocean waters
A small craft advisory is in effect Wednesday for Long Island's ocean waters, the National Weather Service said in its marine report.
The advisory runs to the afternoon hours, covering Moriches Inlet to Montauk Point; Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet; and Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to Fire Island Inlet.
For Long Island Sound, New York Harbor, Peconic and Gardiners bays and South Shore bays from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay, the service said there could be occasional gusts to 25 knots during the morning hours.
Winds for all waters diminish Wednesday night and remain light on Thursday, the service said.
The inland forecast for Long Island on Wednesday calls for slightly cooler temperatures, with daily highs in the mid to upper 60s, and northwest winds from 11 to 16 mph.
