Oh, no, more snow?

Well, it looks like it, with forecasters at the National Weather Service predicting snow into this morning - snow that, at the least, figures to be an annoyance for the morning commute before the flakes change to rain.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect and officials are predicting accumulations of about 1 to 2 inches, with less than an inch out east. A thin coating of ice is expected on top of the snow and sleet, which could make for a hazardous morning commute.

The weather, as of 6:45 a.m., has caused only a few delays and closings across Long Island. The Half Hollow Hills school district in Dix Hills has issued a two-hour delayed start.

The Long Island Rail Road issued a warning for riders, advising them to allow extra travel time this morning. The LIRR's statement also said customers should use caution while boarding and exiting trains due to icy conditions on platforms and staircase areas.

A winter storm watch was issued for surrounding areas such as northeast New Jersey and Connecticut, which could get up to 4 inches.

It's expected to turn to a mix of snow and rain and then rain later in the day, as temperatures reach the mid-to-upper 30s, forecasters said. A mix of rain and snow also is possible Wednesday - and again on Thursday and Friday, according to forecasters.

Unlike the two big storms this winter, no significant accumulations are expected.
