How's this for a trifecta: spring, allergy season and snow?
Up to an inch of snow is possible Wednesday, just days after spring's arrival Sunday and a dusting on Monday.
The morning commute should be wet with a mix of snow and rain, a pattern that will continue during the day amid a high temperature of about 40, said meteorologist John Murray at the National Weather Service in Upton.
"We think there will be light accumulation across the Island," he said.
Long Island will see rain this evening before possibly changing back to snow and sleet after midnight. Lows are expected in the lower 30s.
Thursday, forecasters say there's a 30 percent chance that some areas of the Island could get another half an inch of snow.
After the snow Wednesday and Thursday, it will be partly cloudy through the weekend.
The early spring dusting was less surprising than the apparent early arrival of allergy season.
Dr. David Rosenthal of North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in Manhasset said allergy symptoms have increased the past two weeks.
