May the road rise up to meet you, as the Irish blessing goes, but may you not get caught in the traffic caused by Long Island's many St. Patrick's Day festivities that continue throughout March.

As towns and hamlets across Long Island celebrate the holiday, police are issuing traffic advisories ahead of time, so motorists won't get in unlucky situations.

On Saturday. the New Hyde Park parade starts at 10 a.m. and ends around noon. From 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. these streets will be closed: Jericho Turnpike from Hillside Boulevard to Terrace Boulevard; Covert Avenue northbound at 1st Avenue; New Hyde Park Rd at Jericho Turnpike will be closed in all directions; northbound and southbound New Hyde Park Road traffic will not be permitted to cross over Jericho Turnpike.

In Suffolk County, the Saint James St. Patrick’s Day Parade will kick off at 1 p.m. Woodlawn Avenue will be closed between Route 25A and 1st Avenue, and Lake Avenue will be closed between Sherwood Drive and Railroad Avenue from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

The Bay Shore-Brightwaters St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place at 2 p.m. Saturday. Main Street will be closed between Saxon Avenue and Fifth Avenue from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists can use Union Boulevard as an alternate route, police said.

On Sunday, Huntington will have its 90th St. Patrick's Day Parade, stepping off at 2 p.m. just north of the Huntington train station along New York Avenue. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the town will close Route 110, north from Railroad Street to NYS 25A (Main Street), and NYS 25A (Main Street) west to St. Patrick's School.

In Farmingdale, Main Street between Bethpage Road and Grant Avenue will be closed from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. The parade begins at 2 p.m.
