State police to continue post-Sandy patrols on LI

More than 400 members of the New York State Police, including those deployed from other parts of the state, will continue extra patrols on Long Island as residents move forward with recovery from the impact of superstorm Sandy.
State police have been helping local law enforcement - Nassau, Suffolk, and Long Beach police - with anti-crime patrols, as well as assisting with disabled motorists, neighborhood patrols and calls from residents, State Police said in a Friday news release.
As part of this effort, State Police are also working with forest rangers and police from state parks, SUNY and the state DEC.
