Storm relief: How you can help
Dear fellow Long Islander,
Hurricane Sandy battered the East Coast, leaving thousands on Long Island struggling with the aftermath of damage, destruction and grief. To assist with the recovery, Newsday and News 12 Long Island have partnered with the Robert R. McCormick Foundation to launch Hurricane Sandy Long Island Disaster Relief, a campaign of Newsday Charities.
Help your friends and neighbors here on Long Island rebuild their lives, homes and hope. The first $500,000 raised will be matched by the McCormick Foundation at 50 cents on the dollar. All administrative expenses are paid, ensuring 100 percent of all donations, plus the match, will help Long Islanders rebuild from the devastation. Grants will be made to local nonprofit organizations leading the disaster response and recovery efforts right here on Long Island.
