Sunrise Highway partial overnight shutdown for about a month

A roughly 5-mile stretch of Sunrise Highway between Babylon and Hempstead will be partially shut down overnight for about a month starting on Tuesday, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
The closure will impact two westbound lanes of the highway. There are typically three or four westbound lanes on that stretch of Sunrise Highway, which extends from Massapequa and Amityville in the east, to Wantagh in the west.
The shut down is meant “to facilitate a pavement renewal project,” according to NYSDOT's news release.
It will be in effect on weeknights from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Sept. 8 and extending for roughly four weeks. That timespan could change if weather affects construction, the NYSDOT said.
