Nassau County police investigating a suspicious item in the parking lot of a Valley Stream department store on Sunday morning called in the arson-bomb squad before discovering the item to be a bag of discarded clothes.

Police went to the Target store at 500 W. Sunrise Hwy. at 9:05 a.m. after they received a call from store security about a suspicious item in the parking lot.

Authorities from the arson-bomb squad and the emergency services unit investigated, cordoning off the area. The item was found to be a bag of miscellaneous clothing, police said.

No one was injured.
