A Farmingdale man suffered critical injuries when his bicycle collided with an SUV in Melville on Saturday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Bruce Pye, 33, was bicycling east on Old Country Road when he struck a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that was making a left onto Tuxedo Drive from Old Country Road shortly after 3 p.m., police said.

Pye suffered head and internal injuries, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in critical condition.

The SUV driver, Salvatore Ceravolo, 48, of Melville, was not injured and stayed at the scene, police said.

Police said the crash appears noncriminal.
