Syosset students, staff return to school after bomb threat
A search of two schools in the Syosset Central School District turned up nothing Tuesday morning after a bomb threat was made to a security guard, officials said.
A school district security guard reported a bomb threat just before 8 a.m., the district said in a news release, and South Woods Middle School and Syosset Senior High School were evacuated.
After Nassau County police and school officials searched both buildings, students and faculty were allowed to re-enter the schools, the release said.
The release did not disclose how the threat was made, referring to it only as a "nonspecific bomb threat." School officials referred all questions to the district's public relations firm. The firm referred inquiries to police.
"We investigated, searched and did not find anything," police spokeswoman Carolyn Kasdorf said.
