T-Mobile says service restored for thousands of customers

T-Mobile restored its service after an outage affected tens of thousands of customers, the communications company said.
About 11 p.m., T-Mobile said service had been "fully restored" for all customers, and apologized "for the difficulties."
"We know that customers rely on us to stay connected to what matters most, and we appreciate their understanding as we prioritized resolution," the company added in a statement emailed to Newsday.
Several hundred reports of service disruptions were reported just before 4 p.m. to downdetector, an online tracker of telephone, internet and other services. An hour later, when the outage reached its peak, the number of reports surpassed 62,000. About 10:45 p.m., fewer than 1,300 reports of service issues remained.
About 6:15 p.m. the telephone provider told Newsday teams were "actively working the reports of technical challenges impacting some customers." The company did not state what areas were impacted by the outage.
