Teenager found shot to death behind Lawrence community center, police say

A teenager was found shot to death Tuesday morning behind the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence, Nassau police said.
Harold B. Sermeno, 17, of Far Rockaway, was discovered shortly after 9 a.m. in a picnic area behind the community center with multiple gunshot wounds, said Nassau police Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun, a department spokesman.
Detectives from the Fourth Precinct responded to the scene, and a police medic declared Sarmeno dead shortly afterward.
"This is an active homicide investigation," LeBrun said.
