LIRR customers can expect some residual eastbound delays and cancellations during the Monday evening rush hour due to third-rail power problems east of Jamaica.

Crews are on scene and working to restore full service as soon as possible, officials said.

The problem appeared to have started at about 5 p.m. and caused at least one cancellation, The train that left at 5:19 p.m. from Atlantic Terminal and was due in Hempstead at 6:08 p.m., the LIRR tweeted.

The commuter rail reported shortly before 6 p.m. that trains were at or close to schedule in both directions, with delays of up to 15 minutes on all branches.
