The paths of the tornadoes
The strongest tornado likely touched down in Shirley, just southwest of Francine Place and Mastic Boulevard, and traveled northeast along the LIRR tracks and ending in Manorville, according to the National Weather Service. Another touched down in Remsenburg and traveled to the Westhampton area. A narrow tornado hit East Islip. In Nassau, a tornado touched down in Woodmere, knocking down trees and power lines there, before traveling 50 mph northeast toward Hempstead, Uniondale and Levittown, according to the National Weather Service.
