Nor'easter damages Northwell at Jones Beach Theater

The shows may not go on.

Floodwaters from the nor'easter damaged the orchestra pit and concessions areas at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater, but it was too soon to know whether repairs would be done in time for the next scheduled concert Wednesday evening, officials said. 

Electrical equipment and plumbing at the theater also sustained damage in the storm, said George Gorman, the state parks Long Island regional director.

Other areas near the theater escaped storm damage, Gorman said.

A wall of sand protecting the park's central mall held, and the boardwalk was open Monday, he added.

"We have no damage on the central mall whatsoever. None," he said.

The promoter Live Nation runs the theater and concession area and is responsible for repairs. Any cost estimates would have to come from Live Nation, according to Gorman.

Live Nation was assessing whether damage to the theater could be fixed in time for a Wednesday concert by rappers Logic and G-Eazy, he said.

"The equipment ... all of that at has to be analyzed to see whether it’s working and whether it has to be replaced," Gorman said.

In an email, Live Nation spokesperson John Marsicano said the entertainment company was "still assessing the impact and [we] will have more for you soon."
