The Suffolk County Board of Elections certified two Working Families races in last week’s primary after a manual recount Wednesday.
Both races were in Southampton Town. For town clerk, Peter Collins received 21 votes to defeat Mark Bernardo, who tallied 10. And for town board, Ieshia Galicia received 23 votes and Andrew Smith totaled 21. They defeated Tom Neely, who received 13 votes.
Both candidates who lost had been endorsed by the New York State Working Families Party, according to their published list of endorsements.
The winners of the Working Families races will challenge the Republican and Democratic candidates in the general election Nov. 4.
A manual recount is required in a race decided by fewer than 20 votes, according to the Board of Elections.
The primary, held June 24, featured a dozen races among the Republican, Conservative and Working Families parties, highlighted by primaries for supervisor in Huntington and Smithtown. The incumbent Republican supervisors in both of those races prevailed.
There were no Suffolk Democratic or Nassau County primaries.
