Vintage Taco Bell, revered for '90s look, set for rebrand in Glen Cove

A Glen Cove Taco Bell, revered for a retro-styled color palette with bright pastels, is set for a rebrand, according to plans obtained by Newsday.

The restaurant on Forest Avenue has the chain’s once-iconic orange exterior and pastel-laden seating with pink, blue and burnt-orange accents. A sign on the building reads, “Coming Soon! Newly renovated.”

Site plans show the exterior will be changed to a flat white color with a purple rim around an orange roof, mirroring the fast food chain’s newer look. The purple-bell logo will also be changed above the restaurant’s front door to a white-bell logo, matching changes to the location’s drive-thru sign, site plans from the City of Glen Cove show.

It’s unclear when the construction will take place or how long it will be. Taco Bell unveiled its new logo and color scheme in November 2016 as part of a companywide rebrand. 

An owner of the location could not immediately be reached for comment. Taco Bell and Yum! Brands, which manages Taco Bell stores, did not respond to requests for comment. 

Social media posts have generated tens of thousands of views showcasing the location as one of the last of its kind. The posts garnered dismay from patrons who’ve ordered at the Glen Cove fast food staple.

“I really wish they’d leave it alone,” one commenter wrote.

There are 8,239 Taco Bell restaurants in the U.S., according to ScrapeHero, a data company, including nearly 280 locations in New York. Taco Bell’s location tracker shows more than two dozen restaurants on Long Island.
