A crash that had slowed rush hour traffic Friday morning on the Southern State Parkway has been cleared, according to the New York State Department of Transportation website.

The two-car accident occurred between Exit 22 and Exit 23 in North Merrick, State Police said.

The crash, which occurred on the eastbound roadway, had been blocking at least two of the three lanes, the DOT said.

Police said rubbernecking delays also affected westbound traffic.

There are injuries, police said, but details were not immediately available.

The crash was reported at 5:48 a.m.
