Babylon branch service restored after downed wires, LIRR says
Service on the Long Island Rail Road's Babylon Branch, which had been suspended between Babylon and Copiague because utility wires fell onto the tracks, has been restored, the railroad said.
Service was restored around 2:30 p.m. after the wires were removed. LIRR personnel then inspected the area for any possible track damage, the railroad said.
"As a precaution, Babylon Branch trains would operate at a reduced speed through Copiague following removal of utility wires from the tracks. Customers may experience 5-10 minute delays through the area," the LIRR said.
