Cops: Woman dead, one hurt in Northern State wet road accident
One woman was killed and another injured in a one-car accident early Friday morning on the eastbound Northern State Parkway in Albertson, State Police said.
Police said a preliminary investigation found wet road conditions may have been a factor in the crash.
The accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. east of Exit 29, Roslyn Road.
Police said the driver lost control on a turn and the car, a 2010 Nissan, exited the parkway and struck a tree.
The driver, identified as a 25-year-old woman from Bellerose, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Her identity was not released, pending notification of next of kin.
The passenger, identified only as a 23-year-old woman, was transported to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola complaining of pain, police said.
Her condition was not known.
