A stretch of Hempstead Turnpike in front of Hofstra University in Hempstead and the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale will be closed overnight for the next two weeks for a state road repaving project.
The work will close the road in both directions between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Monday.
The closure will be between Glenn Curtiss Boulevard and Hendrickson Avenue, a section just west of the Hofstra campus, for about two weeks, weather permitting. The NYSDOT said the closures were needed "to facilitate a pavement renewal project" on the heavily traveled road.
Electronic signage will provide updated closure information to drivers, the NYSDOT said.
For additional information on closures, motorists can follow the NYSDOT on Facebook, Instagram and X or can access the official state 511NY website at 511NY.org.
