4 hurt in serious crash that closed LIE for hours

Four people were injured Sunday in a serious crash on the Long Island Expressway in Jericho that closed the eastbound lanes for hours, Nassau police said.
Just before 6 p.m., a 2013 Toyota Highlander was involved in a collision with a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban near Exit 41. The 36-year-old driver of the Suburban and two passengers, a 32-year-old female and a 13-year-old boy, were transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries, police said.
An 11-year-old boy in the Suburban was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of a serious leg injury. Police provided no further details on the condition of the injured.
No other injuries were reported; The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The eastbound lanes on the LIE have been reopened.
