A Setauket teen was charged with driving while intoxicated early Friday after she crashed her vehicle on the Long Island Expressway, seriously injuring her passenger and injuring herself, Suffolk County police said.

Around 12:22 a.m., Olibia Perez-Bonilla, 18, was driving a 2003 Honda Accord in the eastbound lanes of the LIE between Exits 61 and 62 near Holbrook when her car struck the center median and then the barrier on the right side of the road, according to police.

Perez-Bonilla’s 19-year-old passenger was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

Police arrested Perez-Bonilla and charged her with driving while intoxicated. She was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Perez-Bonilla will be arraigned at a later date, police said.
