Nassau County police have reopened the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway in Great Neck after a car was reported on fire.

Eastbound traffic was stopped completely between exits 33 and 34 for about an hour, police said. Informny.com, the state transportation department’s website for traffic alerts, indicated that the road was closed starting at about 5:47 p.m.

Photos from the scene showed a car in the shoulder engulfed in flames.

Police did not have further details about the fire.
