A portion of the westbound Long Island Expressway has reopened for rush hour after closing due to flooding, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

One right lane of the highway closed about 3:45 p.m. due to flooding near Exit 40W to Jericho Turnpike in Jericho, according to the department’s 511NY traffic information website.

Westbound traffic in the area was backed up to South Oyster Bay Road in Syosset, according to state Department of Transportation real-time data on 511NY.org.

Additional information, such as what caused the flooding, was not immediately available Monday afternoon.
