A person was struck and killed by a train at Lynbrook on Thursday, a Long Island Rail Road spokeswoman said.

The person was struck eastbound at about 12:50 p.m., said spokeswoman Meredith Daniels. The train was the 12:05 p.m. out of Penn Station. 

She did not have other details about what happened.

There were delays and cancellations before normal service resumed around 3:30 p.m.

Police are investigating, according to the agency.
