LIRR crews were working overnight to repair a broken rail near Westbury that had caused east- and westbound delays on the railroad’s Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson branches Thursday night, railroad officials said Thursday evening.

“We have crews on the scene, assessing, and they are going to do repairs,” a spokeswoman said.

The problem was not expected to affect the morning commute, officials said.

The problem came on top of schedule changes for a fourth day due to a second phase of Amtrak construction.
