Delays and cancellations due to an Amtrak signal issue have been disrupting multiple Long Island Railroad branches Wednesday evening.
Several trains have been cancelled on the Babylon, Port Washington and Ronkonkoma lines “due to Amtrak signal trouble in one of the East River tunnels,” the MTA said on its website. The same issue caused 10 to 15 minute delays on the Montauk and Port Jefferson branches.
Trains on the Long Beach and Oyster Bay lines are similarly delayed, but due to “late-arriving equipment,” according to the MTA.
When asked when the signal issue might be resolved, an MTA spokesperson deferred to Amtrak.
An Amtrak spokesperson told Newsday: “The cause of the signal issue is still to be determined.”
“Repairs are underway,” the spokesperson added.
