Trains on all Long Island Rail Road branches were on or close to schedule late Wednesday after an Amtrak signal issue lead to cancellations and delays during the evening commute.
Several trains were canceled Wednesday evening on the Babylon, Port Washington and Ronkonkoma lines "due to Amtrak signal trouble in one of the East River tunnels," the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said on its website. The same issue caused 10-to15-minute delays on the Montauk and Port Jefferson branches.
The signal issue was resolved about 9:15 p.m., an Amtrak spokesperson told Newsday via email.
"There were minor delays of 10-15 minutes while crews worked to resolve the issue," the Amtrak spokesperson added.
Trains on the Long Beach and Oyster Bay lines were also delayed Wednesday, but due to "late-arriving equipment," according to the MTA.
