Oyster Bay line restored, but delays are possible, LIRR says
The Long Island Rail Road said service on the Oyster Bay Branch was restored at midday Friday after a downed power line had halted service Thursday night.
The railroad said riders should expect some delays in the area of Glen Cove, where the downed power line was reported near Glen Street shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday.
All eastbound service was halted overnight, but limited westbound service was restored early Friday.
At 8:30 a.m., the railroad said trains on the branch would originate and end at Glen Street, and LIRR personnel were on the scene to assist customers at all affected stations.
Riders who usually board at Oyster Bay, Locust Valley and Glen Cove stations were encouraged to leave from Glen Street or use alternate branches.
PSEG Long Island said it had to set a new pole, which required special equipment.
