Train strikes car in Huntington Station, killing driver, MTA says

LIRR service on the Port Jefferson line was restored Saturday morning between Huntington and Hicksville after a train struck a car west of Huntington, killing the car's driver, according to the MTA.
A train bound for Penn Station hit a vehicle on the tracks at 6:40 a.m., west of Huntington Station, MTA officials said. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trains were suspended in both directions for about three hours until service was restored about 9:30 a.m., according to the LIRR.
Residual delays of about 10 to 15 minutes were reported on trains Saturday morning on the Huntington and Port Jefferson line.
