Repairs to a broken rail west of the Mastic-Shirley station should be completed by noon and no further delays or service changes are expected on the Montauk Branch, the Long Island Rail Road said in a tweet Wednesday morning.

Service had been suspended between Mastic-Shirley and Patchogue, but the railroad later tweeted, "LIRR crews have inspected the rail west of Mastic-Shirley and will let trains proceed through the area at a reduced speed."

The railroad had cautioned that there could be delays of up to 40 minutes.

The railroad later tweeted that, "we will monitor repair progress & update you should there be any additional impacts to our service."
