Service along a portion of the Long Island Rail Road’s Ronkonkoma branch was suspended Wednesday night after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Bethpage, according to the MTA.
Full service resumed on that line by Wednesday morning; the LIRR reported no delays or cancellations at the beginning of rush hour.
The pedestrian was struck on the train tracks at 9 p.m. by a city bound train at the South Oyster Bay Road railroad crossing west of the LIRR's Bethpage Station, an MTA spokesperson said.
The spokesperson confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, but could not immediately provide their identity.
Service on the Ronkonkoma branch was suspended east of Hicksville.
No further information was immediately available.
