Service was restored on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch late Friday afternoon after an earlier suspension because of a broken rail near Central Islip, the railroad said.

The temporary service suspension, announced shortly after 2 p.m., was between Central Islip and Ronkonkoma, the Long Island Rail Road said in a notice to customers.

Westbound service resumed at 4:11 p.m., the railroad said.
