LIRR service resumes on Ronkonkoma line after track fire
The Long Island Rail Road on Thursday evening suspended service on the Ronkonkoma branch in both directions east of Farmingdale for about two hours due to a track fire between Wyandanch and Deer Park.
The LIRR said Suffolk County fire officials cleared the track and inspected for damage.
The railroad posted an alert online shortly before 6:30 p.m. Service was restored with delays at about 8 p.m.
Two trains bound for Ronkonkoma were delayed, with the 5:41 from Penn Station delayed at Bethpage, and the 5:29 from Hunterspoint Avenue delayed at Farmingdale, the LIRR said.
