The MTA has announced Long Island Rail Road service has been restored in both directions between Port Washington and Great Neck on Monday.

The LIRR said service had been suspended earlier due to a police investigation surrounding an "unattended package" at the Port Washington station, but said the package was cleared by investigators — and that service was restored sometime around 9:15 a.m.

The service suspension led to several cancelations during the morning rush hour.

During the suspension service remained ongoing for all stations west of Great Neck.
