A portion of the Long Island Rail Road's Ronkonkoma branch remained suspended late Monday after a train struck a vehicle on the tracks.

No trains have run in either direction on Ronkonkoma line east of Farmingdale since the collision occurred in that area about 7:13 p.m., a MTA spokesperson told Newsday via email. The eastbound train stuck a vehicle at the Little East Neck Road crossing east of the Pinelawn station.

Service will remain suspended "pending assessment of damage and repair to tracks," according to the spokesperson.

The 10:22 p.m. train scheduled to depart Ronkonkoma for Penn Station will leave from Farmingdale around 10:49 p.m., the MTA said.

There were no injuries to occupants of the vehicle, the spokesperson said. An MTA Police investigation is ongoing.

Members of the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company treated one of the train's passengers at the scene, and transported two others to Good Samaritan University Hospital, the spokesperson said. The other passengers were escorted off the train and onto buses to continue to Ronkonkoma.

Earlier Monday, switch problems at the Jamaica station caused delays on multiple Long Island Rail Road branches.

After 10 p.m. Monday, nearly all LIRR lines were operating on or close to schedule. The Port Jefferson branch, which was previously affected because of the issue in Jamaica, was running "30-35 minutes late due to late-arriving equipment," according to the MTA's website.

About 7:45 p.m., the "earlier weather-related switch trouble" continued to delay the Babylon, Montauk and Port Jefferson branches, according to the MTA.

The issues previously delayed trains along the Hempstead, Long Beach, Oyster Bay and Ronkonkoma branches.

An MTA spokesperson said the problem began about 4:06 p.m. but the switch is now working.
