An incident at Copiague’s Long Island Rail Road station Wednesday afternoon caused a cascade of delays and three cancellations on the Babylon line.

“We had a train crew report a person running across the tracks and possibly struck by the train,” LIRR spokesman Aaron Donovan wrote in an email. “We inspected the train itself and realized that no person had been struck.”

Crew on the 2:51 p.m. train from Montauk to Jamaica reported the incident at about 5:45 p.m.

Seven eastbound and westbound trains were affected, with delays of up to 51 minutes. By 7 p.m., trains were operating on or close to schedule.
