Limited service restored at Westbury station after person hit, LIRR says
Long Island Rail Road said it resumed service on a limited basis on one of two tracks through Westbury after a full suspension caused by a train striking and killing an “unauthorized” individual on Saturday.
The railroad announced the partial resumption on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma lines about 5:30 p.m., about two hours after a spokeswoman said the collision was reported.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene, spokeswoman Sarah Armaghan said. MTA police are investigating.
No other injuries were reported.
