No more delays, canceled LIRR trains in East River tunnels, railroad says
No more delays and cancellations are anticipated on the Long Island Rail Road, officials said around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, after a problem on an East River track sent some trains to Atlantic Terminal instead of Penn Station.
"While Amtrak crews continue to make repairs to a track condition in one of the East River tunnels, we don't anticipate further delays/cancellations. We will monitor their progress & provide updates should there be any additional impacts to our service," the LIRR said on Twitter.
Trains canceled or switched to Atlantic Terminal include trains headed to Penn Station from Little Neck, Wantagh and Farmingdale, according to the railroad's Twitter account.
